These Service Team Members are responsible for performing various maintenance functions that are necessary to maintain and enhance the value of the community.

Responsibilities of the Make Ready/Painter position include but are not limited to:

·       Assisting in the day-to-day painting operations of an apartment community, ensuring that apartment units are ready as scheduled,

·       Assisting in the achievement of property maintenance goals.

  • The Painter/Make Ready must cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
  • Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
  • Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements or work orders.
  • The Painter/Make Ready must read work orders or receive instructions from supervisor to determine work requirements.
  • Erect scaffolding or set up ladders to work above ground level.
  • The Painter/Make Ready must remove fixtures such as door knobs or electric switch covers prior to painting.
  • Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly
